Our Skiing Trip to Park City, Utah
Lila and I attended an intergenerational Elderhostel Program in Park City, Utah with our grandsons, Greg and Kevin. This learning program included briefings about the Winter Olympics 2002, in addition to skiing, snowboarding and tubing. We stayed in the Radisson Hotel in Park City located near the slopes ...the hotel had indoor/outdoor swimming pools, hot tubs and meals were included with our program.
The first day we had briefings from an Olympic Park official and a former luge medal winner. Then we visited the Olympic Village where the bobsled, luge, skeleton and ski jump competitions took place. Later that day, we went to a country inn where we had a sleigh ride in the snow-covered countryside. We also had dinner in front of a roaring fireplace while being entertained by a cowboy singer.
That evening we went to a tubing park and we had a great time sliding down a hill laying across a rubber tube. I know that I had fun and Greg and Kevin also thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
Then, Greg and Kevin began their snowboard experience with lessons over the next three days, ...they soon became quite competent at this sport. I was using the new parabolic skis and they were exceptional .... well, they made me perform better.
It was the first time that we participated in an intergenerational Elderhostel and I would recommend it to other grandparents. We had a great time talking and sharing experiences with the other families.
